Art imitating life or life imitating art?

Just watched Ben Drew, aka Plan B’s ‘ill Manors’. The film is very close to reality, portraying daily life for disadvantaged kids without glamorising gangs and youth violence. Plan B says “Find out what kids are good at. It will change their lives”. This is a sentiment which we believe wholeheartedly in and it’s what our Round House project was based on. Rapper, soul star, actor and film maker Plan B mentioned this as part of an impassioned speech at TEDxObserver, outlining society’s failure to nurture its disadvantaged youth. I have to agree with him, he even quotes my breadrin Sheldon Thomas! Plan B uses music, we use sport, particularly martial arts and boxing through our Round House project to help disadvantaged kids.
