I’m delighted to announce that one of our primary benefactors will be sported. – the UK’s leading sport for development charity. As an organisation with a mission almost parallel to our own, it’s thanks to sported.’s national status and celebrity support that smaller organisations like ourselves are able to thrive. Founded by the person behind the London 2012 Olympic bid – Sir Keith Mills, sported. is steeped in the spirit of our brand new sporting heritage; the Hackney triumph. Above all though, sported. functions thanks to the prevalence of one unifying belief; that for children and teenagers from a disadvantaged background, sport can be the most powerful tool of positive change there is. A belief which we share at Engage Communities. Due to the charity’s generous sponsorship, we can now be making great changes here in Stoke-on-Trent, too. sported. will enable the Round House Project to invest in staff, training, room hire, boxing and Taekwondo equipment, as well as teaching for the respected ASDAN qualification, so if ever there were tangible proof of the Olympian legacy, it would seem this is it!
