We recently successfully piloted a cricket project called Boom Boom for 4 weeks during September and November 2013 in Tunstall Park. The Boom Boom sessions consisted of cricket coaching and playing matches in a fun environment. Despite the Autumn season we had between 20-30 local kids attending the sessions. The aim of the project was to make cricket accessible to disadvantaged communities and also help tackle anti-social behaviour. The Boom Boom project was delivered by our coaches that play cricket themselves within the local area, Adeel Khalid & Tas Hussain. During our last session we also received a visit from Staffordshire Cricket’s Development Director, Jason Britton. Staffordshire Cricket kindly donated a considerable amount of cricket kit. The pilot initiative will run as a regular activity now as part of our core community engagement work.
