Engage Five-A-Side Football Tournament. Friday, 19 September 2014

Engage Communities held another free popular five-a-side football tournament on Friday 19th September 2014 at Goals Holden Lane. The tournament was supported by Port Vale’s charity arm, Vale Park Community Initiative through funding obtained from the Police & Crime Commissioner. The Police & Crime Commissioner Mr Ellis attended the tournament and said: “I really enjoyed watching the football tournament to see the work being done and to see how well young children in the area are engaging. “Projects like this are great for engaging young local people, giving them a chance to keep active whilst teaching them a new skill.” We had 10 teams playing in the under 19 group and we had 15 teams in the under 15 age group. In total we had 25 teams and 175 young people participating. We would also like to thank all the young volunteers and StreetGames for helping on the day. Finally thanks to the parents, family and friends for supporting the young people and their teams. Congratulations to Galacticos for winning the under 15 category and Fast Five for winning the under 19 group. The winners were given free tickets to watch the Port Vale v Barnsley game. We used the Bala Pro Fairtrade footballs throughout the tournament once again.
