Bonfire Night Football Tournament 7 v 7. Wed 5th November 2014.

Engage Communities in partnership with Stoke City Community Trust held a free 7 v 7 football tournament on Bonfire Night Wednesday 5th November 2014 at Staffordshire University. The tournament was held on Bonfire Night to help divert young people from anti-social behaviour and prevent crime. During the previous year on Bonfire Night there was a significant number of arson attacks, criminal damage and anti-social behaviour. The tournament helped to prevent the same incidents occurring again in local communities. The Bonfire Night tournament had hundreds of participants across 3 age categories. The tournament had numerous talented teams playing including some high profile players such as former Stoke City striker Mamady Sidibe. The under 12s category was won by Atletico de Stoke, under 15s champions were Puyol Pants Up and the open age group was won by Super 6. The winners were given free tickets to watch a Stoke City match. There were also trophies and prizes for top goal scorer, best player and fair play. The photos were taken, edited and uploaded by our young volunteer, Ayman Matloob, age 14.
